The context

Amélie McNicoll is a business strategy consultant working with executives and management committees on transformation, growth, and strategic alignment. The audience is narrow but high-stakes: her typical client looks for a thinking partner via referral or Google search before a first meeting. The personal website's role is less about generating volume and more about confirming a reputation already heard, and filtering serious briefs from off-target requests.

The challenge

A senior consultant's website has a familiar pitfall: slipping into project-portfolio or online-CV territory, both of which immediately undermine credibility. What we needed was a page that reads like an author's leaflet: clear positioning on the offer, expertise shown through vocabulary and precision, a path that doesn't beg for contact but makes it obvious for those who qualify. On the technical side, performance and accessibility were non-negotiable: first visitors are often executives opening the link from a mobile email.

Our approach

Custom WordPress build, lightweight theme, minimal design system (careful typography, whitespace, sober photography). Four-beat architecture: positioning, method, expertise signals, contact. SEO worked on long-tail professional queries ("transformation strategy consultant", not "consultant"), schema.org Person + ProfessionalService for the expertise signal. Conversion funnels are clear but discreet: no pop-ups, just obvious entry points at the bottom of each section.

The outcome

The site is live, loads under a second on mobile, and plays its role as a second filter behind direct referrals. Amélie edits her content (case studies, articles) without intervention. Incoming requests arrive qualified (precise brief, coherent budget), which was the central goal.
