CASE STUDY

The context

HBA Studio is an architectural firm based in Marrakech, specialising in contemporary and sustainable design. Their clients are real-estate developers, high-end private residences, and hospitality projects. The "architect in Marrakech" market is saturated on Google, dominated by generalist directories and a few well-ranked historical firms. The site's purpose wasn't to display a portfolio (architecture also runs on word of mouth) but to take a share of visibility on that precise local keyword to capture qualified inbound requests.

The challenge

Three constraints in parallel. Visually, an architect's site has to show projects without falling into the generic WordPress gallery: photos must breathe, project pages must tell intent. SEO-wise, we had to move beyond the homepage and target secondary pages (projects, method, team) that rank on intentional queries. Performance, finally: an unoptimised architect site loads in 6 seconds on mobile because of uncompressed photos, killing Core Web Vitals.

Our approach

WordPress with a lightweight custom theme, no heavy page builder. Images served as WebP with lazy-loading and responsive widths to hold a decent LCP on 4G mobile. Hub-and-spoke architecture: home, a "projects" page listing the work, and one detail page per project with its own semantic field. Local SEO backed by schema.org LocalBusiness + Architect, meta tags optimised for "architect Marrakech", and a blog to publish regular content around typologies (riad, contemporary villa, boutique hotel).

The outcome

The site is live with green Core Web Vitals on mobile and desktop. Project pages are indexed one by one, opening a qualified-SEO channel on typologies under search. The firm publishes new projects on their own, with no recurring technical intervention. Progressive visibility on the "architect Marrakech" query, wider than just the homepage.
